Not sure what size you need?

Measure the door you already have — not the frame — then tell us the width. We’ll convert imperial to metric, confirm the thickness you need and take you straight to doors that fit.

Most common mistake: ordering a 35mm door for a fire opening. Any door on a protected escape route must be 44mm FD30. If you’re unsure, call us before you order.

How do I measure for a new internal door?

Measure the existing door, not the frame — width, height and thickness. Standard UK internal doors are 1981mm (78″) tall and 35mm thick, in widths of 610, 686, 762, 813 and 838mm. If your measurements fall between sizes, order the next size up: most doors can be trimmed by up to 6mm on each edge.

Can I trim a door to fit?

Standard doors allow roughly 6mm off each edge — more than that cuts into the lock block or stiles. Fire doors are stricter: usually 3mm per edge, and trimming beyond the manufacturer’s allowance voids the certification. The permitted allowance is printed on the door’s label.

Which doors legally need to be fire doors?

In most UK homes, any door between a habitable room and a protected escape route — typically hallways and stairwells — plus doors from an integral garage, need to be FD30. Three-storey homes and loft conversions have additional requirements. If in doubt, check with your local Building Control before ordering.

What’s the difference between pre-finished and primed?

Pre-finished doors arrive lacquered and ready to hang — nothing to do but fit them. Primed doors arrive with a base coat and need two topcoats in your chosen colour. Primed costs less but adds a day or two of work per door.

Do you deliver to Scotland and Northern Ireland?

Yes. Mainland Scotland is charged at the standard rate. The Scottish Highlands, islands and Northern Ireland carry a surcharge, calculated automatically at checkout from your postcode — no surprises after you’ve paid.

What if a door arrives damaged?

Photograph it and contact us within 48 hours. We replace damaged doors free of charge and arrange collection of the original — you don’t pay return carriage and you don’t deal with the manufacturer.
